If you think that you can escape from the Chennai crowd by spending a weekend in Mahabalipuram (Mamallapuram), you are wrong. Many more people from Chennai think the same and they all head to Mahabalipuram to create a new crowded place. But Mahabalipuram is a good change from the regular crowds of Chennai. There is less pollution and a lot more monkeys.

Construction of the Maduravoyal to Chennai Port Expressway is in progress. Total length of this elevated toll road would be 19 km and it goes along the Cooum river till Koyambedu then it goes along the NH4.
