Sriperumbudur was a little-known village in the outskirts of Chennai, until the late Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by the LTTE while he was at the election Campinas in 1991. Seems like a fortune smiled on the town since Mr. Gandhi was assassinated in Sriperumbudur. It has turned into an industrial hub. Many car makers in India have factories in Sriperumbudur -- Hyundai, Ford, BMW, Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi, to name a few. I am pretty sure that my Nokia phone and our Dell laptops are made in the factory in Sriperumbudur.
Two things: 1) The photos are excellent and I'm glad that you included humans in the scene to give us a sense of scale. 2) I knew none of this and I think it is something of a shame how little we in the US know of India.
